    Notice of Apprenticeship Opportunity

    for the Position of Inside Wireman (Electrician) Apprentice


    1.

    This Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) will accept applications for apprenticeship ONLINE.

    2.

    To apply online: applications.fresnojatc.org (Inside Wireman program); https://www.norcal-jatc.com/applicants/apply-online-2/ (Sound and Communications program) If you are wanting to apply in person you will need to call the office to set up an appointment. 

    3.

    To meet minimum qualifications for apprenticeship, applicants must turn in these official documents to the office in person or by mail, after submitting their application online:

    a.

    Be a minimum of 18 years of age.  

    b.

    Provide an official(sealed) transcript for high school and post high school education showing you've successfully completed at least a year of Algebra with a passing score at the time of application. If applicable, all GED records must be submitted at the time of applicationOnce you submit your application, you are to bring in the official document to the office or mail it in.

    c.

    Submit a DD-214 at the time of application to verify military training and/or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience.  

    d.

    Provide a positive Photo ID (Drivers License, Government ID Card, etc.) at the time of applicationOnce you submit your application, you are to bring in a copy of your Photo ID to the office or mail it in.

    e.

    Be willing and able to work for approved employers in Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare Counties as required by this Joint Apprenticeship Committee.  

    f.

    Obtain a qualifying score of “5” or higher, using the electrical trade’s aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research. (This test will be administered as needed.)  

    Individuals who can verify (proper documentation required) that they have worked a minimum of two thousand (2,000) hours specifically in the electrical construction trade do not need to meet the requirements of items (b.), (c.) and (h.) above.  

    4.

    Applicants who meet all basic requirements as outlined above will be interviewed by the JATC and placed in the ranked and rated pool of interviewed applicants (The Pool of Eligible Applicants). Applicants will be selected for indenture into the Apprenticeship Program in order of their final ranking. The POE list is a floating pool and your position may change depending on how many interviews are conducted with a higher score.

    5.

    Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the Pool of Eligible Applicants will be required to submit to and pass a drug test.


    Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare Counties Electrical Industries Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee will not discriminate against apprenticeship applicants or apprentices based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex(including pregnancy and gender identity), sexual orientation, genetic information, or because they are an individual with a disability or a person 40 years or older.  The Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare Counties Electrical Industries Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, part 30.


    As an apprentice in this apprenticeship and training program you may be required to report for on-the-job training assignments anywhere within the employment jurisdiction of the jatc. The geographic jurisdiction, by county, of this jatc is as follows:

    In the state of California, the counties of:

    Fresno, Madera, Kings and Tulare.

    As an apprentice in this apprenticeship and training program, periodic advances are presently awarded according to the following schedule.

    3 55 2000-2750 1st Semester 2nd Year
    4 60 2750-3500 2nd Year School

    7 75 5000-5750 1st Semester 4th Year
    8 80 5750-6500 4th Year School
    9 85 6500-7250 1st Semester 5th Year
    10 90 7250-8000 5th Year School

    Example: To advance to third period, one must have satisfactorily completed the first year of related training and must also have accumulated 2000 hours of OJT with satisfactory performance.

    To be advanced, the apprentice must have satisfactorily completed both requirements: OJT hours and related training. Successful completion of one year of related training and the minimum OJT hours are required for advancement – except for advancement to the second period.
