Electrical Trainee/Construction Wireman Program
To work as an electrician in the state of California, the person must be one of the following:
- An electrician certified by having passed the California State General Electricians Exam.
- Be a registered apprentice apprentice in a state-approved program.
- An electrical trainee.
If you are a journeyman wireman who has yet to pass the required state exam, you must apply for or already possess an E/T card to perform electrical work in California legally. 150 hours of continued education from a state-approved program is needed to renew the E/T card, which must be done annually.
The Fresno JATC offers evening courses to help journeyman electricians prepare for the state exam. These courses will also count toward the required 150 hours of continued education for E/T card renewal.
